Privacy Policy

How OgbDrive collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal data across our ride, delivery, haulage, driver, payment, notification, and support services.

1. Introduction

OgbDrive ("OgbDrive", "we", "us", or "our") provides a transportation and logistics platform for users, drivers, and administrators. Our services include ride requests, delivery and haulage bookings, driver registration and verification, wallet/credit management, notifications, customer support, and related platform operations in Nigeria.

This Privacy Policy explains the categories of information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, when we share it, how long we keep it, and the choices available to you. Please do not use OgbDrive if you do not agree with this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account and profile information

  • Name, email address, phone number, gender, role type, profile photo, referral code, and profile status.
  • Authentication details needed to sign you in, including one-time password or email verification status through our authentication provider.
  • Optional profile preferences and notification preferences.

2.2 Booking, trip, delivery, and haulage information

  • Pickup location, drop-off location, route details, service type, booking status, timestamps, cancellation details, and assigned driver information.
  • Trip or job events such as accepted, declined, completed, cancelled, or support escalation records.
  • Communication and support records connected to a booking, including support tickets, ticket messages, attachments, and administrative notes.

2.3 Location information

  • Location information you enter manually, such as pickup, destination, city, state, service area, or address details.
  • Device location, including precise location, when you grant permission in the app or browser to help select pickup/drop-off points, support driver availability, match services, or improve trip operations.
  • Drivers may provide service-area and online/offline availability information used to help manage job matching and driver operations.

2.4 Driver onboarding and verification information

  • Driver personal details, including name, email, phone number, gender, profile photo, and National Identification Number (NIN) where required for verification.
  • Vehicle details such as vehicle type, make, model, year, color, plate number, registration number, passenger capacity, insurance company, and service categories.
  • Driver document uploads such as NIN document, vehicle license/registration, third-party insurance, road worthiness certificate, proof of ownership, vehicle photos, or other documents required for verification.
  • Driver approval, verification status, service areas, wallet/credit balance, performance records, declined jobs, and administrative review notes.

2.5 Payment, credit, and transaction information

  • Driver credit top-ups, wallet records, payment references, transaction status, amount, timestamps, booking-related payment records, refunds, disputes, and Paystack customer or transaction references.
  • OgbDrive does not intentionally store full card numbers or card security codes. Card and payment authorization information is processed by our payment provider.

2.6 Notifications, device, and technical information

  • Push notification subscriptions, notification preferences, email notification logs, WhatsApp-related subscription events, and delivery status records.
  • Device/browser details, app version, operating system, IP address, logs, crash/error information, session data, and security records.
  • Cookies, local storage, service worker cache, and PWA-related storage used for authentication, app performance, offline support, preferences, and security.

2.7 Information from service providers and other users

  • Payment confirmation, refund, and transaction status from Paystack.
  • File upload URLs and media delivery information from Cloudinary.
  • Location, mapping, address, and geocoding-related information from Google Maps services where enabled.
  • Reports, messages, support requests, complaints, and safety-related information submitted by users, drivers, administrators, or support staff.

3. How We Use Information

  • Provide the service: create accounts, authenticate users, manage bookings, connect users with drivers, and support ride, delivery, and haulage operations.
  • Driver verification: review driver identity, vehicle, insurance, road worthiness, and other onboarding documents.
  • Location functionality: help users set pickup/drop-off points, help drivers manage service areas and availability, estimate service coverage, and support trip operations.
  • Payments and credits: process driver credit top-ups, verify transactions, manage refunds/disputes, and maintain wallet records.
  • Notifications and communication: send OTPs, account updates, booking updates, driver/job alerts, support responses, push notifications, email notifications, and WhatsApp-related service messages where enabled.
  • Safety and security: prevent abuse, fraud, unauthorized access, policy violations, and unsafe platform behavior.
  • Support and dispute resolution: respond to complaints, investigate incidents, manage support tickets, and resolve service issues.
  • Compliance and record keeping: meet legal, tax, audit, payment, safety, and regulatory obligations.
  • Improvement: analyze app performance, fix errors, improve onboarding, improve booking flows, and make the service more reliable.

4. How We Share Information

4.1 Users and drivers

To complete a booking or support a trip, we may share limited information between users and drivers, such as names, pickup/drop-off details, vehicle details, phone/contact details, booking status, and service instructions.

4.2 Service providers

We use trusted service providers to host, secure, process, deliver, and support the app. These may include Supabase for authentication/database services, Cloudinary for media and document uploads, Paystack for payments and transaction processing, Google Maps services for maps/location/address features, email providers for OTP and service emails, web push providers for notifications, and WhatsApp/Meta-related services where messaging features are enabled.

4.3 Administrators and support staff

Authorized OgbDrive administrators and support staff may access user, driver, booking, payment, notification, and support records when needed to operate the platform, verify drivers, resolve support requests, investigate safety issues, or manage compliance.

4.4 Legal, safety, and business reasons

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, law enforcement, regulators, payment networks, or safety investigations. We may also transfer information as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, or sale of business assets, subject to appropriate safeguards.

5. Sensitive Information and Driver Documents

Driver documents and identification details are collected for verification, safety, fraud prevention, and platform compliance. Access is limited to authorized staff and service providers that need the information to operate or secure OgbDrive. Do not upload documents that are not requested by the app.

6. Security

  • We use authentication, access controls, HTTPS/TLS, role-based permissions, service-role server operations, and provider security controls to protect data.
  • No online service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your email account, OTP codes, device access, and login sessions.
  • Never share OTPs, passwords, payment authorization details, or sensitive documents with anyone outside official OgbDrive channels.

7. Data Retention

We keep information for as long as necessary to provide the service, maintain accounts, verify drivers, process payments, resolve disputes, enforce our Terms, meet legal obligations, and protect safety and security.

Some records may be retained after account deletion where required for legal, tax, accounting, payment, fraud-prevention, safety, dispute, or regulatory reasons. Where possible, we delete, anonymize, or restrict access to data that is no longer needed.

8. Your Choices and Rights

  • You may access and update profile information from your dashboard where available.
  • You may control browser/app permissions such as location and notifications through your device or browser settings.
  • You may unsubscribe from non-essential communications where an unsubscribe option is provided.
  • You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction, or review of your personal data by contacting us.
  • You may request account deletion in the app and through our web deletion page.

9. Account and Data Deletion

Users can initiate account deletion in the app from the profile/account area where available. You may also request deletion using our web page at /data-deletion or by emailing support@ogbdrive.ng.

When an account is deleted, OgbDrive attempts to remove the account profile and related app data such as bookings, support tickets, messages, notifications, push subscriptions, referral records, driver documents, vehicles, wallet/credit records, and authentication records where applicable. Certain data may be retained when required for legal, financial, safety, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution purposes.

10. Children

OgbDrive is not intended for children. Users and drivers must be legally able to use transportation, payment, and platform services in their location. Drivers must meet all eligibility, licensing, vehicle, and verification requirements.

11. International Processing

OgbDrive is operated from Nigeria, but our service providers may process data in other countries. By using OgbDrive, you understand that your information may be processed and stored outside your country of residence subject to provider and legal safeguards.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our app, services, providers, legal obligations, or data practices change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
